Downe, Kent[edit source]
I have restored the image caption which was removed by an edit to the page. Whilst I have no particular objection to inclusion of gazetteer entries in a page there is a Gazetteeer heading and it might be appropriate to include references there. I would also welcome use of the talk/discussion page about additions when a comprehensive page has been prepared from a local archive and transcription team effort over a three year period. Thanks Steve, I have edited to the maps and gazetteer section the extract in respect of Cudham, Kent Genealogy which is also subject to a FamilySearch Indexing agreement along with Keston, Kent Genealogy by volunteers within Kent Online Parish Clerks team working at the local archive on original registers. In Kent all existing existing Kent Online Parish Clerks initial page creations contain much more accurate and detailed gazetteer material. As we progress those pages it may be more useful for FamilySearch wiki to link to that material than simply reference one gazetteer source. - Hi, I agree with DowneOPC's suggestion and have moved the extract to the "Maps and Gazetteers" section. --Steve 20:39, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
Keston, Kent[edit source]
I have moved the gazetteer extract to the "Maps and Gazetteers" section and restored the image caption removed by an edit to the page. Kent Online Parish Clerks are building a page for Keston which will contain several gazetteer references for the parish which will be linked to this page. I'd invite you to consider linking to existing Parishes available on the Kent Online Parish Clerks pages as an alternative to using a single gazetteer source entry in the "Maps and Gazetteers" section. I'd re-iterate the point about using the Discussion page where there is in place an agreement between a local transcription team and FamilySearch as part of a formal agreement known as a Co-operative Indexing agreement identified on the discussion page for the parish. Thanks for your interest in the parish. DowneOPC 21:25, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
Bromley St Peter & St Paul, Kent
I have moved the gazetteer extract to the "Maps and Gazetteers" section although the existing parish history included the relevant content and goes on to the develop the town's government history. The gazetteer entry in this context appears redundant on the page as the existing contributions have added a more complete history of the town and subsequent London Borough. I'd invite you to read existing content and discuss with contributors of a parish history before adding an 1848 source reference which is debatable in the context of the local history of Bromley as a parish, town and London Borough. As the existing links make clear from this Ancient Parish many other parishes were formed ( not reflected by your reference addition) and this is an example of need for a number of references to be cited for Kent Parishes which now lie in and form London Boroughs. You may wish to revisit some of your contributions in this context to ensure that the gazetteer entries are in the relevant section and do not conflict with or repeat existing contributions. You may also find Kent Online Parish Clerks website useful. There are number of sources in the Bromley Archives which could be used in future to develop a parish history further and of course the Archive has a good deal of material in the H.G. Wells Collection. DowneOPC 22:13, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
Farnborough, Kent[edit source]
The existing parish history clearly outlines the relationship between the parishes of Farnborough and Chelsfield and the arrangement of Rector's duties between the parishes. The gazetteer description in this parish needs to be qualified and I have removed it to the "Maps and Gazetteers" section and reinstated image captions; reuniting the image of Levi Boswell's grave with the text about the Boswell and Lee families. Again a discussion about the addition of gazeteer information to the existing content might have been preferable given the detailed page provided by contributors; not least the material concerning Romany family history.
