Melanie has always loved stories about her family, but started doing serious family history research 14 years ago for a class at Brigham Young University. She began by taking pictures of headstones of pioneer ancestors in cemeteries while she lived in Utah and learned how to use the microfiche readers at the family history library at BYU. Today, she is primarily an "armchair" genealogist who does her research online after corralling her three young children in bed. She is very grateful more and more records are being made available online each day so she is able to continue researching while being a stay-at-home mom in California. Melanie has a B.A. in Communications with a public relations emphasis and minor in family life from BYU.
