My name is Beth A Cottam. I was born in Ogden, Utah, and lived there until graduating from Ben Lomond High School. I moved to Cedar City, Utah to attend Southern Utah State College. In 1974 I graduated earning a BA in Sociology, specializing in Social Work with an emphasis in Gerontology. After graduation I worked for the Utah State Department of Social Services and Five County Association of Governments. In 1976 my job relocated to Saint George, Utah. That move afforded me the opportunity to meet my eternal companion and raise my family in a beautiful community, rich with ancestral heritage.

In 1978 I married Gery Sidney Cottam in the St. George Temple. We are blessed to have four wonderful children. We shared hundreds of great family adventures together until my husband's sudden death in 1998. My children are all married now and have wonderful families of their own. At the present time I have 14 grand children who fill my heart and life with much joy.

I continued working, spending thirty-four years in social work, gerontology, and community planning before retiring in 2010. Since that time I continued to volunteer with community organizations, co-wrote a book, continued to serve in church callings, and have been providing child care for many of my grandchildren,

I have enjoyed serving in both stake and ward callings including Young Women's, Relief Society, Primary, scouting, activity planning, emergency preparedness and Sunday School. At the present time I continue to learn much from teaching Gospel Doctrine.

My favorite roles in life have been as a wife and mother. I enjoy creating stories, object lessons, poems, and have created many genealogy projects for family and friends. I look forward to the challenge of being a Family Search Wiki Missionary and learning a second language....(that of computer!) So far everyone in the mission I have met and associated with have been strong and supportive people. It feels great to be working with individuals who share the same beliefs and who are so gracious in sharing their talents.
