David S. Barss is an Accredited Genealogist for research in the New England and Midwestern States.  He received a Bachelors degree in History from Utah State University in 1977, and has worked as a professional genealogiest since that time.  He spent 8 years managing a lineage linked database, 5 years as an independant genealogist, and has worked for the Family History Department and FamilySearch since 1990.  He served as a reference consultant in the LDS Reference Unit, and the United States and Canada Reference Unit, become the supervisor of the later for three years.  He later served for 8 years working with the database the generated the International Genealogical Index and since 2006 he has been a Project Manager working with the Community Trees Project under FamilySearch Indexing.
