The County was named for Captain John Page of the 4th U.S. Infantry, who was mortally wounded in the Battle of Palo Alto. The County has Clarinda as its seat and the County was created February 24, 1847. The County is located in the southwest area of the state.

1847--Page County was created 24 February 1847 from unorganized territory. It was attached to Appanoose County prior to organization 22 March 1852. County seat: Clarinda
