  • The first Spaniards came to the area in 1590.
  • Although the city was founded in 1889, the first house was not built until 1893.
  • In March 1916, the Zapallar area became independent from the department of La Ligua, and was organized as an independent municipality.
  • The commune of Zapallar has a population of approximately 6,800 people.[1].
