Robert Gene Pitman
My current occupation is a part-time business consultant for small companies that are not in a position to hire a full-time financial officer. I work about 10-15 hours a week for two local companies, Dream Chocolate and Boise Biogas. During my full-time career, I was a CFO for a variety of companies, including property development and home construction, an aviation company (FBO) specializing in training helicopter and fixed wing aircraft pilots, and a restaurant management company.
I graduated from Emmett Idaho High School in 1966 and from Boise State University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. I received a Master's degree in Information Technology in 2004 from the University of Phoenix.
I served in the Cumorah Rochester New York mission from 1968-70. My wife, Venessa, and I served in the Nampa Idaho Mission as Housing Coordinators for the missionaries from 2015-2016.
We raised nine children, seven daughters and two sons, and have 28 grandchildren, 14 boys and 14 girls. Ten grandchildren live in our same neighborhood but we have families living in Oregon,Washington, California, Nevada and Arizona. Spending time with them is a great joy!
I have been privileged to have many callings: Sunday School and Primary teacher, Cub Scouts and Scout Master, a counselor in four bishoprics, Elders Quorum president and counselor, High Councilor, Executive Secretary and Stake Family History Director. Currently I serve as the counselor in our Elders Quorum over Family History. My wife and I also serve as temple workers in the Meridian Idaho temple.
Geneology and family history became an interest for me at age 16 when my grandmother asked for my help. Over the years since then, I have enjoyed doing my own family research, helping others with their family history and attending the temple in behalf of ancestors. However, I have not used Wiki on FamilySearch nor have I made any contributions, yet. I look forward to learning more.
