St. George’s Anglican Church on Farquhar Street dates from 1818 and is the oldest Anglican church in Southeast Asia. In their record’s collection, they have 5 registers which survived the Japanese Occupation, and 14 registers in all. A person interested in obtaining records from this church should apply to an administration office that is located behind the church. At the present time, the records are not indexed, so anyone who applies to this office must have the given and surname of the ancestor, the year the event occurred, and the type of event, i.e. baptism. To search the records costs 50 ringgits, and if the record is found, there is an additional charge of 50 ringgits to have it copied.
