This collection contains civil death records from Orange Free State in South Africa from 1902-1954. Death certificates are arranged chronologically and alphabetically by place.

  • Use the date and age to estimate birthdate to find birth records
  • If parents' names are included find information on them
  • If spouse is listed find marriage records
  • Use death place to locate burial records in cemeteries at the location
  • Use cemetery records to see if other relatives are close by
  • See if the informant is a relative and find information on him

  • Look for spelling errors in the name
  • Sometimes an individual is known by another name such as a nickname
  • Look for records in other localities
