The library will be closed on Monday, January 20th, 2020 for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.
New Resource Scheduling System at the Riverton FamilySearch Library[edit | edit source]
Click the "Resources" link in the Menu list on the left of the page to see what is available at our library and to schedule our Photo Scanners, Slide Scanners, VHS/8mm Video Tape Converters, and Audio Cassette Converters.
New Policy Change at the Riverton FamilySearch Library[edit | edit source]
Starting January 2nd, 2019, the Riverton FamilySearch Library will be changing to a “cashless” facility. We no longer will have a cash register and will not be charging for prints or copies made at the library. Only single copies of family history printing will be allowed. Personal or extensive printing should be taken to a commercial copy center. Visitors should bring their own flash drives for scanning photos and documents and converting VHS tapes to digital files. USB drives for use in the Family Story Room must be a minimum of 8 GB and be in their original, unopened package.

The Riverton FamilySearch Library has been very popular with local family history researchers in the south part of the Salt Lake Valley since opening its doors on June 21, 2010. Please use the menu on the left for links to specific library pages.

Group Visit Opportunities
The Riverton FamilySearch Library is pleased and eager to offer the opportunity for individuals, organizations, and others to schedule a group visit to our library. We offer a variety of options that are sure to provide interest to your group. They include a short presentation, 20 to 25 minutes, in one of our meeting rooms, with the remainder of the time in the library. On the third Saturday of each month, except December, the Riverton FamilySearch Library offers a free, three-hour Saturday Seminar with a featured speaker and various classes. Click here for details on the seminar.
Family Discovery Days
The Riverton FamilySearch Library hosts Family Discovery Day on the fourth Saturday of January, April and September. A wide variety of family-oriented, family history activities are available to experience, enjoy and learn. Click here for details on the Family Discovery Day. Join us on 28 September 2019 from 10:00 am to 12:00 for ideas on how to share family history with family and friends with gifts of all kinds. Everything from personalized calendars and coloring books to jewelry and DNA kits.
New handouts are available from April Discovery Day "Discovering Family History" See all the wonderful and new ways to do family history on your phone, record memories, see who was an early Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints missionary, plan and remember the experience of a temple trip and much more.
As part of your family reunion, bring the entire family to the Riverton FamilySearch Library and feel the love which is generated as you search for and find ancestors needing temple ordinances for your family members to perform. Presentations and hands-on experiences are available to help strengthen the bond of love on both sides of the veil.
Groups may come for a few hours or the entire day, choosing presentations that match their goals and experience levels. Each presentation and related practice takes up to ninety minutes. We also include fun activities to help youth get to know their family and ancestors through our Family Story room, Replace-a-Face, and the 3-in 1 workstations. Youth conference is an opportunity to help youth learn, grow, and have an uplifting spiritual experience. Family history can be a valuable experience for youth conference. The activities are designed to help youth and their leaders feel the Spirit of Elijah and experience how its influence can bless the lives of both the living and the dead through family history and temple ordinance work. Our purpose for the conferences is to turn the hearts of our youth to their fathers.
This year wards and stakes can tailor a family history experience for their interests and the amount of time they have available. Groups may come for a few hours or the entire day, choosing presentations that match their goals and experience levels. Each presentation and related practice takes up to ninety minutes. We also include fun activities to help youth get to know their ancestors and each other. Family Story Room
The Riverton FamilySearch Library has a Family Story Room available for use to record your family's stories. The space is designed with state-of-the-art audio and video technology. The comfortable furnishings and sound proofed interior provide a quiet secluded area, ideal for recording personal histories. Click here for details on scheduling our Family Story Room.
Genealogy Merit Badge Workshop
On the second Saturday of each month, except December, the library offers a Boy Scout Genealogy Merit Badge Workshop. Click here for details on the workshop.
