Pahang (Arabic honorific Darul Makmur, or the Abode of Tranquility) is a sultanate and federal state of Malaysia, located in Peninsular Malaysia. It covers an area of 35,965 km2 (13,886 sq miles). It' capitol city is Kuantan. The head of the state is the sultan, while the head of government is the Menteri Besar. Pahang is home to Malaysia's two important national parks, Taman Negara and Endau-Rompin. The traditional culture of Pahang is predominated by the indigenous culture, of both Malays and Orang Asli.
