Known Issues[edit | edit source]

Question 1[edit | edit source]

Question #1: Some indexed records have event place, date, or other errors. How can I determine the correct information?
Answer 1: View the document to verify the correct information at, or search the Catalog using the film number included in the record detail page. A list of known problems below provides correct indexing information:

  • Many records were indexed with the First Name entered as the Italian relationship to the head of the family: moglie (wife), figlio (son), figlia (daughter). For example, the original passenger list states "moglie Magdalena" or “wife Magdalena” and was entered as the First Name: Moglie and the Last Name: Magdalena.
  • The estimated birth year is not available in the search results, or in the record detail page. Only the age is available.
