Description[edit | edit source]
The County was named in honor of Francis Marion of South Carolina, general in the American Revolutionary War. It is located in the northwest area of the state.[2].

The county is named after "The Swamp Fox" Revolutionary War Brigadier General Francis Marion (c1732-1795).[7]
