Mae Hong Son province is located in the upper northern part of Thailand. It covers an area of 12,681 km2 (4,896 sq mi). Its capital is Mae Hong Son City. Most of the province are the complex mountain ranges of the Thai highlands. The largest ethnic population is the Shan people who migrated from Shan state in Myanmar. There are seven hill tribes in this province, they are: Karen, Lahu, Lisu, Lua, Miao, Chinese Yunnan and Pa-O people. [1]
