  • On December 18, 1869, it was decreed that the territory that included the old San Miguel de Panquehua and La Chimba (first and second department of Campaña), would constitute two sub-delegations called Las Heras and Villeta.
  • Finally, in 1871 the unification of both sub-delegations in the department of Las Heras was decreed.
  • The department of Las Heras has a population of approximately 204,000 people. [1]
