Brief Timeline[edit | edit source]
1804-06: Lewis and Clark Expedition made contact with the tribe
1820-1846: Lost most of their land in what is now Kansas and Nebraska
1846: Assigned a reservation at Council Grove on the Neosho River in Kansas
1850: Methodist Church established and built a mission.
1859: About half of the reservation of Council Grove was ceded to the United States
1873: New reservation in Indian Territory (Kay County, Oklahoma)
1902: Lands were allotted
