Known Issues[edit | edit source]

Question 1[edit | edit source]

Question 1: Several rolls of digitized films have been found to have light images. Can they be improved?
Answer 1: Several rolls of film for Jamaica Church of England Parish Register Transcripts, 1664-1880 were reviewed before publication and found to be light. The images were rescanned by FamilySearch to see if the quality could be improved, but unfortunately, FamilySearch was not able to significantly improve them.

Question 2[edit | edit source]

Question 2: The final waypoint Trelawny > Baptisms, marriages, burials 1838-1870, Vol. 2. is an index and not a transcript for the time period of 1838-1870. Are the transcripts available?
Answer 2: The final waypoint Trelawny > Baptisms, marriages, burials 1838-1870, Vol. 2. is an index. The Film Number and Catalog Film Notes associated with this final waypoint is 1291671, Trelawny Parish Baptism, marr., burial index (v. 1-2) 1771-1870 Baptisms, marr., burials (v. 1) 1771-1839 (includes St. James Parish, 1770-1774). Other films containing Trelawny Church of England Parish registers are 1224328, 1291755 and 1291757. You may be able to locate the transcripts by using the Article 56000, Using Film Notes in the Catalog to determine the content of a final waypoint in Historical Records.

Question 3[edit | edit source]

Question 3: There are missing pages 289-290 in the final waypoint All Parishes > Burials 1826-1836, Vol. 1. Are they available?
Answer 3: These pages are missing in the online collection, and are also missing on the original microfilm. The Film Number and Catalog Film Notes associated with this final waypoint is 1291731, Burials (v. 1-2) 1826-1836, 1836-1844. It is possible that the image was not captured by the camera operator. The missing burial dates are from January 9, 1833 to April 28, 1835.

Question 4[edit | edit source]

Question 4: Is there an Index to Marriages, 1751-1871, Vol 3 for St. Elizabeth parish?
Answer 4: The St. Elizabeth, Index to Marriages, 1751-1871, Vol 3 is included in the final waypoint St. Elizabeth > Index to baptisms 1751-1871, Vol 3 starting at image 78. The time frame on the Marriage index seems to go from 1837-1850, but on both the Marriage and Baptism Indexes, notes on the bottom of the page direct you to volume 4 to finish up indexes from this book.

Question 5[edit | edit source]

Question 5: Are there other years in the waypoint All Parishes > Baptisms 1843-1845?
Question 5: Baptisms 1843-1845 contains records from 1840 to 1845. It can be confusing because the dates in the records are for baptisms and births.
