Parish History[edit | edit source]

FARNHURST, or Fernhurst, a parish in Midhurst district, Sussex; 3½ miles S by W of Haslemere. station, and 4½ N by E of Midhurst. The church is early English and good; and has a shingle spire.[1]

Fernhurst St Margaret is an Ecclesiastical Parish formed in 1773 from a chapelry in Lynch, Sussex Ancient Parish. Part of the extensive and irregular parish boundary forms part of the county boundary with neighbour Haslemere, Surrey. The village and civil parish are within the Chichester district of West Sussex.
