Description[edit | edit source]

The purpose of this task is to add links to online digital newspapers to the corresponding town and county pages.

Instructions[edit | edit source]

1. Nathan has created a Google.Doc New York Newspapers that contains all the newspaper links necessary to copy and add to the corresponding County and town pages.

2. You will be putting links for a newspaper on both the corresponding town whereever possible, and the county page.

3. On Nathan's google doc, go to the county you are working on and determine what towns you will also need to add the links to.

4. Now go to the wiki pages (both county and town).

a. If the county does not have a heading for Newspapers, add to the county page "Newspapers" as a heading 4.
b. If the town page does not have a heading for Newspapers, add "Newspapers" as a heading 3.

5. Under the "Newspapers" heading on the county and applicable town pages, type (or copy and paste) the following, and then Save the page:

{{NY Fulton}}

6. Open again the "Newspapers" section for editing in wikitext.

7. Go back to Nathan's google doc and copy the applicable Newspaper entry. You need only copy Column C.

8. Now, in wikitext, paste the copied entry to the correct county and/or town page under the template you added in number 5. Insert an indented bullet (  :*  ) at the start of each entry, and add a period at the end of each entry.

9. If there is more than one newspaper to list, add the newspapers in chronological, then alphabetical order. Do NOT allow a blank line to appear between two bulleted newspaper listings.

10. For any listed New York City newspapers (but NOT listed only as Brooklyn or Queens) in Nathan's list please add each newspaper entry under six categories:

  • New York City Newspapers
  • Bronx County Newspapers
  • Brooklyn, New York Newspapers
  • New York (Manhattan) County Newspapers
  • Queens County Newspapers
  • Richmond (Staten Island) County Newspapers

11. If you have any questions, go to David Dilts for more information.
