These tables contain many broken links, are missing important databases, or list databases that are not very useful in finding vital records in England. The second part of this project with be adding correct years to the FindMyPast link in each table for each parish.

Task List[edit | edit source]

Task List

Instructions[edit | edit source]

Step 1[edit | edit source]

Go to the parish page (links are on the Task List) and find the "Church records" heading. Click "Edit source" next to the heading.

We will be adding the correct years to the FindMyPast part of the table.
The FindMyPast code that we will changing looks like:
|-
| bgcolor="#ffffcc" | '''FMP'''
| bgcolor="#ffcccc" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-baptisms-index '''1538-1917''']
| bgcolor="#ffcccc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffcc" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-marriages-index '''1538-1931''' ]
| bgcolor="#ccffcc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-burial-index '''1538-1966''']
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | <br>
|-
It is found in this part of the code:

Step 2[edit | edit source]

1. Go to www.findmypast.com/articles/berkshire-parish-list.

This page lists the year range for baptisms, marriages, and burials that the FindMyPast collection has for each parish.

2a. Scroll down to the parish you are currently working on underneath "Berkshire baptisms".

For example:
The parish of Abingdon has baptism records from 1758 to 1837 in the FindMyPast collection.

2b. Go back to the code and change the year range on the first line of the FindMyPast code to match what the table says.

For example:
The parish of Abingdon would have the baptism years 1758-1837 instead of what is current listed, 1538-1917.
|-
| bgcolor="#ffffcc" | '''FMP'''
| bgcolor="#ffcccc" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-baptisms-index '''1758-1837''']
| bgcolor="#ffcccc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffcc" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-marriages-index '''1538-1931''' ]
| bgcolor="#ccffcc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-burial-index '''1538-1966''']
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | <br>
|-

3a. Go back to the Berkshire parish list page. Scroll down to the parish you are currently working on underneath "Berkshire marriages".

For example:
The parish of Abingdon has marriage records only in 1698 in the FindMyPast collection.

3b. Go to the code and change the year range on the second line of the FindMyPast code to match what the table says.

For example:
The parish of Abingdon would have marriage year range 1698-1698 instead of what is currently listed, 1538-1931.

| bgcolor="#ffcccc" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-baptisms-index '''1758-1837''']

| bgcolor="#ccffff" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-burial-index '''1538-1966''']
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | <br>
|-

4a. Go back to the Berkshire parish list page. Scroll down to the parish you are currently working on underneath "Berkshire burials".

For example:
The parish of Abingdon has burial records from 1730 to 1924 in the FindMyPast collection.

4b. Go to the code and change the year range on the third line of the FindMyPast code to match what the table says.

For example:
The parish of Abingdon would have burial years 1730-1924 instead of what is currently listed, 1538-1966.
|-
| bgcolor="#ffffcc" | '''FMP'''
| bgcolor="#ffcccc" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-baptisms-index '''1758-1837''']
| bgcolor="#ffcccc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffcc" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-marriages-index '''1698-1698''' ]
| bgcolor="#ccffcc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-burial-index '''1730-1924''']
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | <br>
|-

Step 3[edit | edit source]

Put "Changing the FindMyPast year ranges in the table" in the Summary box and then click "Save page".

If Parish Not Listed[edit | edit source]

Not Listed in 1 Table[edit | edit source]

If the parish was not listed in one of the tables, that means that the FindMyPast collection does not have any baptism/marriage/burial records from that parish. If this is the case, put a <br> where that line of code is:

For example, if the parish is not listed in the baptism table:
|-
| bgcolor="#ffffcc" | '''FMP'''
| bgcolor="#ffcccc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ffcccc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffcc" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-marriages-index '''1698-1698''' ]
| bgcolor="#ccffcc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-burial-index '''1730-1924''']
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | <br>
|-
Not Listed in Any Table[edit | edit source]

1. If the parish is not listed in any of the tables, that means that no FindMyPast collection has records from that parish. If this is the case, delete the entire FindMyPast code (7 lines of code) and the | - above it:

Berkshire Part 2 Img 10.png

The new code will look something like:

Berkshire Part 2 Img 12.png

2. Also delete the FMP line of code here and the | - above it (found right underneath the "Church Records" heading):

The new code will look something like:

| bgcolor="#ffcccc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffcc" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-marriages-index '''1538-1931''' ]
| bgcolor="#ccffcc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/berkshire-burial-index '''1538-1966''']
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | <br>
|-

What code looks like after the change:

|-
