Task List

Instructions[edit | edit source]

Step 1[edit | edit source]

Go to the parish pages (links are on the Task List) and find the "Church records" heading. Click "Edit source" next to the heading.

We will be adding the correct years for the National Burial Index (found on FindMyPast).
The National Burial Index (NBI) code that we will be changing looks like:
|-
| bgcolor="#ffffcc" | '''NBI'''
| bgcolor="#ffcccc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ffcccc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffcc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffcc" | <br>
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | [https://search.findmypast.com/search-world-Records/national-burial-index-for-england-and-wales '''1538-1939''']
| bgcolor="#ccffff" | <br>
|-
It is found in this part of the code:

Step 2[edit | edit source]

1. Go to www.findmypast.com/articles/world-records/full-list-of-united-kingdom-records/life-events-bmds/national-burial-index-for-england-and-wales-parish-list.

This page lists the year range for burials that the National Burial Index has for each parish.

2. Scroll down to the parish you are currently working on. The table lists the starting and ending years for burial records in each parish.

For example:
The parish of Arlesey has burial records from 1559 to 1852.

If Parish in Table Multiple Times[edit | edit source]

Sometimes the parish is listed multiple times in the table. This means that there are multiple churches or congregations in the parish (including the Church of England, Quakers, Methodists, Baptists, etc.). The type of congregation can be found in the "Dedication" column. We are only adding the Church of England entries.

For example:
The parish of Ampthill has the Methodist, Quakers, and St Andrew chapels in their parish.

If the parish is listed multiple times, only focus on the congregations beginning with "St" or are called "All Saints" or "Holy Trinity". These are the Church of England chapels. Ignore the congregations of Baptist, Methodist, Congregational, Quakers, Workhouse, Episcopal, Protestant Dissenters, and Asylum.

For example:
For the parish of Amptill, ignore the Methodist and Quakers denominations and only add the years for St Andrew (1602 - 1852) to the table.

Step 3[edit | edit source]

Go back to the code and change the year range of the National Burial Index code to match what the table says.

For example:
The parish of Ampthill would have the burial year range 1602-1852 instead of what is currently listed, 1538-1939.

Step 4[edit | edit source]

In the Summary box say "Changing the NBI in table" and click "Save page."
