- As new pages are added, there is a possibility for inappropriate content or vandalism. Patrolling allows us to look at new pages that are added to check for any potential offensive or inappropriate content. It also gives us an opportunity to see the type of new information that is being added, who is adding it, and give guidance where needed.

Contributors looking for help[edit | edit source]
- Why Help:
- Contributors who have questions want to learn or help the Wiki.
- Steps to answer
- Look at the Question itself, at the page it is connected to and if necessary contact the contributor through their talk page, and or email.
- Now search the Wiki for the answer. If the answer is not available bring the question to the Support Team.
- When the answer is found place it on to the Talk page. Also thank them.

- Access the list of articles to be reviewed, using the link above.
- Choose an article to review and check the contents to ascertain if the content is appropriate for the Wiki.
- If it is not appropriate, use the Talk page to note why this information should not be part of the Wiki.

- The Research Wiki must be written from a neutral point of view, representing fairly, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views of family history related topics that have been published by reliable sources.
- Steps to resolve:
- Access the list of articles needing to be reviewed by clicking on the link above.
- Review the article and ascertain if it meets the guidelines and policies of the Wiki.
- Add any information to the Talk page that would clarify why this articles does not meet the guidelines, if it appears that it is not appropriate.

- Why review:
- Materials which infringe on copyrights must not be added. Only copyright owners may place copyrighted materials on the Research Wiki unless the contributor has received the written consent of the copyright owner.
- Steps to resolve:
- Review the article to ascertain if any copyright problems may occur.
- Add information to the Talk page regarding any visible problems.
- Monitor the article to see if changes are made that would correct the problem.
- If the content is not corrected within one week, add the Delete template to the page with an explanation of why it should be deleted.
