Cyprus is an island country in the Mediterranean Sea in Europe whose nearest neighbors are Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, and Greece. It was formerly ruled by the Ottoman Empire and the British Empire. The official languages are Greek and Turkish.[1]
