  • The first settlement of Cauquenes was founded on May 9, 1742, under the name of Villa de Nuestra Senora de las Mercedes by José de Manso del Tutuvén.
  • In 1826 it was renamed Villa de Cauquenes and on December 22, 1826, it adhered to the title of city.
  • The Cauquenes commune has an approximate population of 41,300 people.[1].
