Brief History[edit | edit source]
The 87th Regiment, New York Infantry was organized at Brooklyn, N. Y., and mustered in November 20, 1861. It consolidated with 40th Regiment New York Infantry September 6, 1862. Company "B" transferred to 173rd New York Infantry September 11, 1862.[1]
