Brief History[edit | edit source]
This Unit was organized at Richmond and Indianapolis, IndIana, and mustered in September 3, 1862. They mustered out June 14, 1865. The Recruits transferred to 57th Indiana Infantry. [1]

Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.

Company F and G of the 84th Infantry was composed of nearly all Henry County volunteers, mostly from Harrison, Henry and Jefferson townships, and a few from Fayette and Wayne counties are on the Company G, 84th Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry web site.
