15th Battalion, Louisiana Cavalry
Brief History[edit | edit source]
The 15th Battalion, Louisiana Cavalry Battalion was organized during the winter of 1862-1863. It had four cavalry companies, one infantry company, and one artillery company. The unit was soon broken up, and some of the men then served in Harrison's 3rd Louisiana Cavalry Regiment.
Companies in this Regiment with the Counties of Origin[edit | edit source]
Men often enlisted in a company recruited in the counties where they lived though not always. After many battles, companies might be combined because so many men were killed or wounded. However if you are unsure which company your ancestor was in, try the company recruited in his county first.
